Marriage advice sparks celebrity clash online

Published on: December 16, 2025 4:53 PM

A heated debate swept Pakistan’s entertainment circles after veteran actor Saba Faisal shared marriage advice on television, prompting strong backlash and an immediate response from actress Javeria Saud. The remarks, centered on silence and adjustment in in-laws’ homes, quickly spread online and sparked concern about the values being promoted on national platforms. As the discussion grew, many viewers questioned whether such advice reinforced outdated expectations placed on married women.

Earlier, Saba Faisal advised newly married women to remain quiet in their in-laws’ homes, suggesting silence ensures peace and stability within the household environment. The statement drew sharp criticism, as many felt it encouraged emotional suppression rather than healthy communication and mutual respect. Consequently, social media users called out the advice for normalizing unequal power dynamics within marriages.

In response, Javeria Saud addressed the remark directly through an Instagram story, reshaping the narrative with a clear and confident counter-message. She argued that peace comes from awareness and open communication everywhere, not from closing one’s eyes, ears, and voice inside any relationship. Therefore, her reply resonated with audiences who value expression and self-respect as foundations of marital harmony.

The controversy intensified when Saba Faisal expanded her views to bridal independence, recalling older traditions where brides followed in-laws’ choices without objection. She suggested that giving brides full freedom over wedding attire from the beginning could disturb household balance later. However, critics argued that such thinking limits personal choice and reinforces control rather than cooperation.

Several actors then joined the conversation, openly supporting autonomy and respect for women within marriage. Fiza Ali emphasized that allowing personal choice reflects love, not disrespect, while highlighting the unfair shift in expectations after marriage. Meanwhile, Hira Khan’s blunt criticism further fueled debate, ensuring the discussion remained active across entertainment and social media circles.
