Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, warned of possible action against TTP terrorists based in Afghanistan. He said nearly 6,000 TTP fighters are operating from Afghan territory, creating a serious threat to Pakistan.
He stated that Pakistan expects the Afghan Taliban to act against these militants. However, he stressed that Pakistan will take necessary steps if no action is taken. He said national security remains the government’s top priority.
Asim Iftikhar added that Afghanistan has again become a safe haven for several terrorist groups. He said these groups are cooperating with one another and expanding their networks. He warned that this cooperation increases risks for the entire region.
He also said Pakistan has successfully foiled many infiltration attempts by militants. He praised the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and civilians in the fight against terrorism. He said Pakistan remains committed to protecting its borders.

The envoy highlighted that a recent UN report confirmed the presence of TTP militants in Afghanistan. He said this evidence supports Pakistan’s long-standing concerns. He called for urgent global attention to address the threat.
Asim Iftikhar further said that the worsening security situation in Afghanistan is affecting neighboring countries. He stressed that regional stability depends on eliminating terrorist safe havens. He urged all parties to work together.
He also said that Afghanistan’s internal challenges are increasing pressure on surrounding states. He added that Afghan refugees should now return to their homeland. He said the war is over, and conditions must improve through joint efforts.
