Pakistan Strengthens Global Influence During Trump’s Second Term

Pakistan strengthens global influence during Trump’s second term, securing strategic wins across politics, economy, and defense. The country’s leaders have built a strong personal rapport with President Trump, setting the tone for unprecedented cooperation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir met Trump multiple times at the White House. Trump publicly praised both leaders, calling Munir his “favorite field marshal” and describing Sharif as “a great friend.” Analysts note that Pakistan has played its cards better than any other regional player, creating trust that extends across multiple U.S. administrations.

The partnership gained momentum after Pakistan helped the United States capture the mastermind of the 2021 Kabul airport bombing. Trump personally thanked Islamabad during a joint session of Congress, signaling a dramatic shift from prior tensions. This timely counterterror support earned Pakistan credibility and opened doors for deeper collaboration. Beyond security, Islamabad leveraged its political alignment to secure high-value deals in critical sectors, demonstrating its growing diplomatic influence. Observers say these moves have positioned Pakistan as a trusted and independent partner in a region of complex alliances.

Economic and strategic investments have reinforced Pakistan’s new standing with Washington. In September, the Frontier Works Organization signed a $500 million deal with a U.S. firm to supply copper, antimony, and other critical minerals for military and industrial use. Pakistan showcased these minerals directly to Trump, signaling reliability in areas where China was previously dominant. The country also expanded cooperation in cryptocurrency, partnering with Trump-aligned financial networks and planning a strategic Bitcoin reserve. These initiatives, while still evolving, have strengthened bilateral ties and highlighted Pakistan’s adaptability in emerging sectors.

Pakistan strengthens global influence during Trump’s second term, but challenges remain. Delivering on critical minerals commitments and sustaining cooperation through Trump’s unpredictable policy style are key tests. Officials emphasize that U.S.–Pakistan relations should be assessed independently, without comparison to India, China, or Russia. Pakistan’s growing role in Middle Eastern security and multilateral partnerships may provide stability and long-term credibility. Overall, Islamabad’s strategic moves have translated into significant diplomatic leverage, marking the country as a standout success story in Trump’s second-term foreign policy.
