Police deport over 31,000 illegal foreign nationals

Punjab Police have deported over 31,000 illegal foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, as part of a province-wide operation to remove unauthorised residents.

Currently, 165 illegal foreign nationals are being held at various designated holding points.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, of those deported, 11,362 were men, 6,426 women, and 19,366 children. The deportees included 9,931 individuals with residential proof, 11,064 Afghan citizen cardholders, and 10,016 illegal foreign nationals. To facilitate the evacuation process, five holding centers have been established in Lahore, with 46 others set up across the province.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said security remains on high alert throughout the province, and all actions are being carried out in accordance with international law, ensuring the protection of human rights during the deportation process.

The 12th batch of the Punjab Police Internship Programme was inaugurated at the Central Police Office (CPO), with 45 BS Criminology students from the University of Punjab selected for the training.

Additional IG Training Mehboob Aslam Lillah said the internship aims to promote direct interaction between Punjab Police and students, providing comprehensive guidance for career development in law enforcement and public service.

DIG Training Munir Ahmad Zia briefed the students about the programme’s structure, explaining that they would be divided into five groups and attached to various field formations for six weeks.

During the internship, students will gain practical exposure to field policing, crime control, and public service delivery. They will also receive training on policing procedures in the Information Technology Department, Counter-Terrorism Department, Special Branch, Safe City Authority, and Investigation Wing.a
As part of the programme, students will prepare and submit reports based on their observations, helping to enhance their understanding of police operations and governance.
