ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, sister of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, has filed a contempt of court petition against the Adiala Jail superintendent and other officials over repeated violations of an Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.

The petition follows an overnight sit-in outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other PTI members, who were denied a meeting with Imran for the eighth time on Thursday. Aleema had previously staged sit-ins herself over similar restrictions.
The plea names Adiala Jail Superintendent Abdul Ghafoor Anjum, Saddar Beroni Station House Officer Raja Aizaz Azeem, Federal Interior Secretary Capt (retd) Muhammad Khurram Agha, and Punjab Home Department Secretary Noorul Amin as respondents. It claims the officials have “wilfully flouted” court orders and repeatedly denied visitation rights to Imran’s family, legal counsel, and associates.

Aleema’s petition refers to the IHC’s March 24 order, which reinstated a twice-weekly meeting schedule for the former premier. According to the plea, standard operating procedures were devised on March 28, 2024, designating Tuesdays for meetings with friends and Thursdays for family and lawyers. Despite these directives, the respondents allegedly failed to implement the schedule.
The plea further mentions that the superintendent had provided an undertaking to the IHC on November 8, 2024, promising access to Imran for his friends and family. However, when PTI leaders attempted to meet Imran on November 11, 2024, they were reportedly made to wait for hours and later detained by police.
The petition alleges that these actions “ridicule the authority” of the IHC and amount to “serious contempt of court,” urging the initiation of criminal proceedings against the officials involved.
