BANGKOK – Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, co-owner of the Miss Universe Organisation, is facing an arrest warrant issued by a Thai court in connection with a fraud case. The Bangkok South Civil Court issued the warrant after Jakrajutatip failed to appear on November 25, with reports suggesting she may have left Thailand and is currently in Mexico.

The legal dispute stems from allegations that Jakrajutatip solicited $930,000 in investment from a plastic surgeon in 2023, despite allegedly knowing she could not repay the funds. The court has now declared her a flight risk and scheduled the next hearing for December 26.
The case gained wider attention amid controversies surrounding the Miss Universe 2025 pageant. Tensions escalated when a dispute between pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil and the eventual winner, Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch, became public. Several judges and committee members, including musician Omar Harfouch and former soccer player Claude Makélélé, resigned prior to the competition, citing concerns over finalist selections.

Despite the legal proceedings against Jakrajutatip, the Miss Universe Organisation maintains that these matters are separate from the pageant itself. Officials have emphasized that the competition and its outcomes remain unaffected, and they are committed to ensuring transparency in future events.
