US President Donald Trump has announced that he will soon begin working to help end the fighting in Sudan. Speaking at the US-Saudi Business Forum, he said that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman requested strong action. Trump explained that Sudan was not originally on his priority list, but the situation had become too unstable to ignore. He said these Sudan conflict resolution efforts may now be important for many countries and partners.
Trump added that he once viewed the Sudan crisis as distant from America’s main concerns. But after understanding the rising violence and listening to regional allies, he now believes the issue requires urgent attention. According to him, the conflict had reached a point where it could become even more dangerous if left unchecked.

He also highlighted the strong interest of Saudi Arabia in seeing progress toward peace in Sudan. Trump said the Crown Prince wants the international community, especially the United States, to take a more active role in helping stabilize the region. Because of this request, his administration will start exploring ways to support peace efforts.
Sudan has faced severe fighting since 2023, with government forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) battling for control. Last month, the RSF attacked and captured the city of al-Fasher, resulting in the killing of nearly 2,000 people. The conflict has destroyed homes, displaced families, and created deep fear among civilians.

The United Nations reports that more than 13,000 people have been killed since the violence began, and the number continues to rise. Many worry that the crisis could spread further if no serious international action is taken. This is why Trump’s renewed focus on Sudan conflict resolution efforts is being seen as an important step, especially by regional partners who want to stop further loss of life.
