UoG Chinese Collaboration Strengthens as Envoy Announces Best Researcher Award

The Pak-China academic ties grew stronger as the University of Gujrat signed a major Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese delegation. The agreement was signed at Hafiz Hayat Campus by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq and Chinese Consul-General Zhao Shiren. Former education minister Mian Imran Masood also joined the ceremony. The MoU focuses on research, student exchange, and institutional development to promote long-term academic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

The visit also marked the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. During the event, Zhao Shiren announced the establishment of the “Chinese Consulate Award” for the best University of Gujrat researcher. He said this initiative will encourage innovation and celebrate outstanding academic work. The announcement reflected China’s strong commitment to supporting education and cultural exchange in Pakistan.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Zahoor Ul Haq appreciated the gesture and announced the creation of a special Chinese office at UoG. This office will facilitate future projects and deepen cooperation between the two countries. He said the MoU represents a bridge of understanding that goes beyond borders. He added that education remains the most powerful way to strengthen Pak-China academic ties and ensure mutual progress.

The Chinese delegation praised UoG for advancing academic excellence and promoting friendly relations. They also met with Chinese alumni and commended faculty members for their role in Pakistan’s development. Zhao Shiren encouraged Pakistani scholars who earned PhDs in China to share their knowledge and act as cultural ambassadors. The delegation also received souvenirs as a symbol of friendship and respect.
