Lady Annabel Goldsmith, Imran Khan’s former mother-in-law, dies at 91

Lady Annabel Goldsmith, a famous British socialite and the former mother-in-law of Imran Khan, has passed away at 91. She died in London, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family and friends. Her death marks the end of an era in British high society. Many people in both the United Kingdom and Pakistan have expressed deep sorrow over her passing.

Born on June 11, 1934, in London, Lady Annabel belonged to a respected aristocratic family. She first married Mark Birley, who later founded the world-famous nightclub “Annabel’s,” named after her. The club became a symbol of London’s elite lifestyle and remains popular even today. Later, she married businessman Sir James Goldsmith, with whom she had three children.

Lady Annabel was the mother of Jemima, Zac, and Ben Goldsmith. Her daughter Jemima married former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in 1995, making Lady Annabel his mother-in-law for a time. Through this connection, she became a well-known name in Pakistan as well. Even after the marriage ended, both families maintained mutual respect and goodwill.

Throughout her life, Lady Annabel remained active in Britain’s social and cultural circles. She was admired for her charm, kindness, and grace. Her name often appeared in society magazines, and she hosted many elite gatherings. She also shared her life story in her memoir “Annabel: An Unconventional Life,” where she described her remarkable journey.

British media has paid tribute to Lady Annabel, calling her “a symbol of an era.” Her family has shared heartfelt messages expressing love and grief. Tributes from friends, celebrities, and politicians continue to pour in. Her legacy as a gracious, inspiring woman will be remembered for years to come, both in Britain and beyond.
