PESHAWAR: Despite instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur remains the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until his resignation is formally accepted by Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
Gandapur’s resignation letter, which surfaced in the media Wednesday night, appears to be caught in bureaucratic delays. While officials at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat claim the letter was delivered to the Governor House at 10:57pm, the Governor’s Office denies having received it.

Governor Kundi, speaking to reporters in Islamabad, dismissed reports of receiving the resignation as “fake news” but said he would sign it once it officially reached him. He is expected to return to Peshawar on Friday (today).
Meanwhile, Gandapur, in his first media talk after announcing his resignation, accused the federal government of creating unnecessary drama over the delay. He warned that the holdup could harm the province but denied being re-offered the chief minister position.

At a separate press conference in Islamabad, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar alleged that PTI “enabled terrorists” and claimed Gandapur’s ouster stemmed from his refusal to comply with such directives. He further accused the PTI leadership, including CM-designate Sohail Afridi and jailed Imran Khan, of promoting instability in the province.
