Published on: October 10, 2025 2:35 AM

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced on Thursday that polling for NA-01 will be held on November 23, following the disqualification of Abdul Latif and the Peshawar High Court’s decision to vacate the interim relief previously granted to him.

According the official schedule for NA-01 (Chitral Upper-cum-Chitral Lower), returning officers are set to issue public notices on October 13.

Candidates can submit their nomination papers from October 15 to 17, with the initial list of candidates to be published on October 18.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will conclude by October 22. Appeals against acceptance or rejection may be submitted until October 27, with final decisions expected by November 03.

The final list of candidates will be released on November 04. Candidates may withdraw their nomination papers on November 05, followed by the allotment of election symbols on November 06. Polling is scheduled to take place on November 23.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has completed the appointment of senior administrative officials tasked with overseeing the electoral process for the upcoming NA-01 by-election in Chitral Upper-cum-Chitral Lower.

Ijaz Khan, serving as the Regional Election Commissioner for Malakand, has been designated as the District Returning Officer for NA-01.

The commission has named Muhammad Iqbal, District Election Commissioner Chitral, as the Returning Officer for NA-01.
