
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) staged a walkout from the National Assembly on Friday in protest against recent remarks by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
During the session, chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, PPP leader Naveed Qamar declared that his party could not remain part of the proceedings “until ground realities changed.” Later, treasury members persuaded PPP lawmakers to return to the house.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized that dialogue was the only solution, urging lawmakers to seek resolution through understanding rather than trading blame. The session was eventually adjourned until Monday evening.
Earlier in the day, journalists also staged a walkout from the press gallery, condemning police violence and vandalism at the Islamabad Press Club. They demanded a transparent investigation into the incident.
