PM urges global efforts for peace restoration

Published on: September 21, 2025 4:26 AM

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that sustainable peace is not possible until the root causes of conflicts are eliminated. He stated that conflicts and injustices around the world today are endangering the future of humanity. To promote peace, every individual and every nation must play their individual and collective role. He added that Pakistan is proud of its significant contributions to global peace. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office media wing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks in his message on the occasion of International Day of Peace. The Prime Minister said that this day serves as a serious reminder that the promotion of peace requires individual and collective efforts from all. He emphasized that sustainable peace cannot be achieved until the root causes of conflict-such as poverty, denial of human rights, and increasing intolerance-are eradicated. He further stated that peace must be nurtured and preserved through strong international institutions, and the international community must renew its commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful means in accordance with the UN Charter. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that when we reflect on the true meaning of peace, we cannot ignore the grave humanitarian tragedies unfolding in the occupied Palestinian territories and Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Until the people of these regions are granted their right to self-determination in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, lasting peace will remain a dream. He reiterated that Pakistan is proud of its active role in global peacebuilding, including decades of participation in UN peacekeeping missions and providing humanitarian assistance to affected populations, which have contributed to peace and stability in conflict-affected regions of the world. On this International Day of Peace, he urged everyone to commit to constructive and collective action-to silence the weapons that take innocent lives, restore faith in diplomacy, and resolve conflicts through peaceful means. Pakistan is ready to play its role and calls upon the international community to join hands in the struggle for peace, justice, and humanity.
