Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who rose to prominence as the world’s youngest Minister of Defense soon after his father King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud ascended to the royal throne. His foreign policies received much criticism from the international community especially when he led the Saudi intervention in Yemen against the Houthis. He became the crown prince by replacing his elder cousin, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef Al Saud in June 2017 and the ambitious crown prince never looked back. He accelerated his efforts for reforms and in a purge in November, ordered the arrests of government ministers and more than 40 members of the royal family including the billionaire Walid bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud over charges of corruption and money laundering. Critics hail this move as his way of removing all obstacles between him and the royal throne. The 32 year-old is first in line for a throne that passed along a line of brothers for decades. Daily Times has prepared an infographic about the major events of the crown prince’s political career. * Farhan Janjua contributed to this post
