Indian state violence continued in occupied Kashmir during July, with seven Kashmiris killed by Indian forces. According to the Kashmir Media Service (KMS), the deaths occurred during violent military operations across the region.
Additionally, 51 civilians were injured as a result of excessive force used by Indian troops. Security forces carried out 144 search and cordon operations, intensifying the crackdown.
In these operations, 49 people were arrested, many of whom were later detained under India’s controversial black laws. These individuals were taken to various prisons, often far from their homes.
The arrests sparked protests, especially in areas where Islamic books were reportedly confiscated, further fueling public anger. Human rights groups have raised concerns about the arbitrary detentions and use of excessive force.
Despite repeated calls from international bodies to address the situation, violence and suppression continue. The local population remains under pressure as Indian forces tighten their grip on the disputed territory.
