
CHAKWAL – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited flood-hit areas of Chakwal on Saturday to meet affected families and oversee relief operations following recent cloudbursts and heavy monsoon rains.
While meeting the victims, she announced a compensation of Rs1 million for each family that suffered losses in the calamity. She assured them that the government would provide full support during recovery efforts.
Later, the Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where she ordered immediate restoration of damaged bridges and roads to reconnect isolated communities quickly.
Additionally, she approved the construction of a new steel bridge on Jhelum Road to ensure long-term infrastructure improvements. She stressed that restoring access was essential for speeding up aid and emergency response.
During the session, MPA Sultan Haider highlighted the extensive damage in his constituency and urged priority attention. In response, CM Maryam directed officials to assess total damages and deliver swift compensation.
Moreover, she instructed local authorities to maintain transparency and pace in all relief operations. She emphasized that the government’s commitment to the affected families would remain firm throughout the rebuilding phase.
