Maryam vows no citizen in Punjab will remain homeless

Published on: July 14, 2025 2:04 PM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed officials to speed up the implementation of the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar (Own Roof, Own Home) project, emphasizing that providing shelter to the poor is the true success of the state.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz received a detailed briefing on the progress of the housing scheme. She was informed that over 51,911 underprivileged families have already received housing loans under the program.

So far, a substantial amount of Rs 60.5 billion has been distributed to support low-income households. The chief minister stated that this project is not just about walls and bricks—it marks a fresh start for families in need.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted that this is the first time in Pakistan’s history that such large-scale, practical steps are being taken to address homelessness. She added that her continuous efforts are aimed at ensuring every citizen in Punjab has a roof over their head.

Earlier in May 2025, Maryam Nawaz had launched the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar (Own Land, Own Home) e-portal, enabling the daily construction of 300 houses for the homeless across Punjab. The initiative is now gaining pace under her direction.

Through this digital platform, 2,000 plots are being allocated in 23 housing schemes across 19 districts of Punjab. Maryam stressed that she has shut the doors of traditional politics and opened the doors of public service for a better, more inclusive future.
