Aleema Khan says Imran Khan faces unprecedented imprisonment in Pakistan

Published on: July 4, 2025 1:02 PM

Aleema Khan, sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has said that no one in Pakistan’s history has faced imprisonment like her brother. Speaking to the media outside Rawalpindi’s Anti-Terrorism Court, she described Imran Khan’s jail conditions as extremely harsh and isolating. She revealed that he spends 22 hours a day locked in the same cell, with all usual prisoner facilities withdrawn.

According to Aleema Khan, the PTI founder is denied books and is not allowed to meet his children. She emphasized that Imran Khan is serving a sentence harsher than what any other prisoner has endured in Pakistan. This treatment, she said, is a clear attempt to silence and break him.

Aleema Khan also claimed that 26 MPAs in Punjab are being de-seated, and those vacant seats are being handed over to Nawaz Sharif’s party. She said that Imran Khan has given important instructions for launching a new political movement. This movement is expected to start after the 10th of Muharram according to the plan.

She further shared that Imran Khan believes there is no need for the 27th constitutional amendment. Instead, he insists that the government should be transparent and “just inform the nation as it is.” This statement reflects his continued call for honesty and accountability.

Aleema Khan’s remarks come amid growing political tensions in the country. The PTI founder’s supporters remain hopeful about his upcoming movement, which aims to address ongoing political challenges. Meanwhile, the controversy over his imprisonment conditions has attracted widespread attention and criticism.

The former prime minister’s family and supporters continue to demand better treatment for him and justice for what they describe as politically motivated imprisonment. The situation remains tense as the political landscape in Pakistan unfolds in the coming weeks.
