UNITED NATIONS – Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, strongly condemned the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities during a special session of the UN Security Council on Sunday. He warned that such actions could dangerously increase tensions in the region.
He stated that the ongoing Israeli aggression and unlawful military actions have triggered a sharp rise in regional violence. He added that any further escalation could bring catastrophic consequences for the Middle East and beyond. His remarks reflect Pakistan’s deep concern over growing instability in the region.
Ambassador Ahmad emphasized that Pakistan firmly stands in solidarity with the government and people of Iran during this difficult period. He urged the international community to play a responsible role in preventing further bloodshed and to push for peaceful solutions through dialogue.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the worsening conflict between Iran and Israel. During the conversation, PM Sharif strongly condemned the US-led strikes that followed Israeli aggression and expressed full support for Iran’s sovereignty.
The Prime Minister also offered deep condolences for the innocent lives lost and prayed for a quick recovery of those injured. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s House, both leaders exchanged views on possible ways to ease tensions and avoid further violence.
As the situation remains fragile, Pakistan continues to urge all nations to respect international law and seek peaceful solutions. The country has made it clear that diplomacy, not war, is the only viable path to long-term regional stability.
