Pakistan and Croatia have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation by exploring collaboration between their ports and strengthening partnerships in trade, investment and regional connectivity during high-level talks held in Islamabad.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, who was on a one-day official visit to Pakistan. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the discussions covered cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, labour mobility, visa facilitation, education, defence, climate change, tourism, infrastructure and information technology.

Both sides also reviewed Pakistan’s engagement with the European Union and exchanged views on regional and international developments. Recognising the importance of connectivity for economic growth and regional stability, the two ministers discussed opportunities for collaboration between Pakistani and Croatian ports to facilitate trade and improve maritime links. They also agreed to hold bilateral political consultations later this year or in early 2027 to maintain momentum in bilateral relations.
Addressing delegation-level talks, Dar described the European Union as one of Pakistan’s leading trading partners and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to deepening ties with Croatia within the broader EU framework. He also highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagement with European leaders and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation.
During his visit, Radman also met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who called for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, information technology, agriculture, tourism, connectivity and skilled manpower. The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen friendly relations with Croatia and invited Croatian President Zoran Milanović and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković to visit Pakistan.

The Croatian foreign minister praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and dialogue, particularly in the Middle East, and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
