In a bold response to alleged Indian cyber aggression, Pakistani hackers have launched a campaign titled Operation Salar, successfully hacking four major Indian websites and claiming to have accessed sensitive data. The hackers, part of a volunteer cyber group, declared that this cyber offensive is a direct retaliation to India’s recent cyber terrorism targeting Pakistan’s digital infrastructure. Their mission, they said, is to expose and counter the digital warfare allegedly being waged by Indian agencies. Just hours before this operation, the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs was also compromised. The ministry later confirmed the breach and clarified that any posts made during the hack had no connection with official policy or communication. This digital offensive comes on the heels of a cybersecurity advisory issued by Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team, warning that hostile entities could exploit current geopolitical tensions to spread disinformation and disrupt critical national networks. The incident adds a new dimension to the ongoing Pakistan-India conflict, showing that the battlefield now extends beyond land and air—into cyberspace, where narratives, infrastructure, and national security are equally under threat.
