LAHORE: In a shocking incident, a woman alleged killed her sister with repeated brick blows over a family dispute in Shadbagh police precinct on Saturday. The victim has been identified as Gulnaz. A police official said that the accused woman, Fahmida, whose son had married the daughter of his aunt, Gulnaz (victim), few month ago. But soon a family dispute broke out over some trivial issue, which ended in divorce between the newlywed couple two months ago. With the passage of time, both the sisters, Gulnaz (victim) and Fahmida (accused), had nursed a grudge with each other after the divorce. On the day of incident, Fahmida flew into rage after the two – victim and accused – had a quarrel and she attack her sister Gulnaz with a brick. The injured was shifted to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her head injuries. Fahmida, however, managed to escape. Police shifted the dead body to the city mortuary for an autopsy and registered a case against Fahmida, who is believed to be still at large. Separately, a man died when a speeding vehicle ran over him in Kahna police limits According to rescuers, the deceased was crossing a main road near Kahna when a rashly driven car hit him and sped away. The injured was shifted to a local hospital where he expired. Police handed over the dead body to his heirs after completing legal formalities. Three people were also injured in a road accident near Township. Meanwhile, valuables worth million of rupees were reduced to ashes on late Saturday after a fire broke out in three furniture godowns in Sabzazar area. The fire was put out after two hours of hectic efforts. No loss of life was reported in the incident. Rescuers said that the cause of fire could be a short circuit.
