KARACHI: Following the failure of speakers of the National and Sindh Assembly to accept the resignations by 10 Muttahida Quami Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) lawmakers, the party has decided to move court over the issue. Earlier, several MQM-P members, including an MNA, had switched party loyalties. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Sindh Speaker Agha Siraj Khan Durani have yet to accept the resignations that have compelled the MQM-P to go to the court. “Despite the resignations, all these persons have been enjoying assemblies’ privileges from both houses,” it said. Both the speakers have claimed that under their privileges, they could accept or reject resignations apart from any time framework. MQM-P has been staging protests for the acceptance of its point of view in the case. MQM-P has also informed Premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi about the matter. Legal council Barrister Farogh Naseem said that in due course of time and after completion of case, the party would go to court on the issue. Provincial assembly members including Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Iftikhar Alam, Bilqees Mukhtar, Ashfaque Manghi, Dilawar, Shaikh Abdullah, Irtiza Farooqui, Nadeem Razi, Razzaq Memon, Hafeezuddin and Asif Hussain participated in the event.
