Sir: Balochistan can become the richest province of Pakistan since various kinds of countless minerals and resources are available in the region. Gwadar Deep Seaport is located in Balochistan. Gwadar, being the future Singapore of Pakistan, has attained great significance due to its geographical and strategic location. It is situated at the mouth of the Straits of Hormuz region, which is the source of supplying oil from the Gulf countries, where an estimated 17 billion barrels of crude oil passes daily. The sea trade connects three regions: Central Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. Furthermore, China needs the Gwadar Port to import Middle Eastern oil and gas. To accomplish the industrial needs of China, the country will transport Middle Eastern oil by a 3,000 kilometres long land route from Gwadar to Kasghar, the northwestern city of China. The Gwadar port is extremely beneficial for both countries. In addition, many countries have great interest in Gwadar. No doubt, Gwadar Port can play an important role in the economic development of Pakistan if the resources are utilised in a suitable way by taking proper measures. The government needs to formulate some appropriate strategies to develop the Gwadar Port. AKHTAR BALOCH Kech
