Bilal Maqsood opens up about dramatic tale behind Strings’ ending

Published on: December 31, 2023 12:55 AM

Bilal Maqsood, one-half of the iconic Pakistani music duo Strings, opened up about the dramatic decision to bring the curtains down on their illustrious 33-year-long musical journey.

The revelation provided an intimate glimpse into the heartfelt choices that led to the end of an era in the country’s music scene. Strings, comprising Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia, had been a musical institution in Pakistan, captivating audiences with their timeless melodies and leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s cultural landscape. In the candid conversation, Bilal Maqsood reflected on the cherished legacy that Strings built over the decades, emphasizing its everlasting impact on the hearts of Pakistanis.

During the podcast, Maqsood shared the poignant details of the band’s decision to part ways, describing it as a carefully considered move to ensure the band’s dignified exit from the stage.

He revealed that the duo had always been resolute in concluding Strings on a high note, determined not to compromise the integrity of the brand they had painstakingly crafted. The pivotal moment, as disclosed by Maqsood, occurred in a matter of seconds, signifying the end of a musical era that had spanned more than three decades. Contrary to contemplating a two-year hiatus, the duo opted for a more impactful and immediate resolution, choosing to bring Strings to its grand finale then and there.

Maqsood explained that the decision to disband Strings was driven by a mutual understanding between him and Kapadia, with both artists valuing the legacy they had created. Despite the finality of the decision, Maqsood affirmed that the bond between the two remains unbroken and they continue to be best friends even as they pursue individual musical endeavours.
