Sir: Through your newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned to an important issue. With the start of every new academic year, the management of private schools increases their tuition fees, at times as high as 15 to 20 percent. It seems these private schools have no check and balance on them and that the provincial education ministries are hand-in-glove in the exploitation spree. The middle class families who want their children to have a good education, which is supposedly only offered in private schools, suffer immensely due to this incessant rise in fees. The directorate of private institutions should keep a watchful eye on this unlawful activity. I hope that the concerned authorities will take some steps to rescue the inflation-stricken, middle class parents from yet another monster. SYED FAIZAN ALI ALVI Karachi
