Sir: The bridge under construction at Malir will be very beneficial, especially for those who commute daily using that route. The construction work on the project seems to be moving along at a fast pace and it seems that the authorities concerned are trying to complete the project within the deadline. The alternate route, though, is not in an acceptable condition. There are potholes on the track; and open manholes that are extremely dangerous, especially for bikers at night. Just because of the terrible condition of the alternate route, traffic congestion has become a daily problem for commuters. And then commuters also become victims of miscreants once they are stuck in traffic jams. I would request all concerned authorities to sit together and develop a joint action plan for public relief in view of the problem highlighted above. Nasar Usmani Karachi
