Sir: The operation against illegal encroachments in Abbottabad is being appreciated by the masses. It was being anxiously awaited since the mafia had encroached most commercial areas, specially the Mansehra Road, which was creating so many problems for the local administration as well as for the people. After the completion of this operation we hope that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will also launch an operation against encroachments in the residential areas. I am a resident of Bilal Town, PMA road, and the residents here are waiting for an operation in this area too as it is flooded during the monsoon rains every year because water overflows due to encroachment by some people. Estimates of the losses and damages due to floodwaters are about one billion rupees every year. The creeks on both sides of Bilal Town and Hassan Town ought to be 20 to 30 feet but are only five to eight feet at some points; water overflows the bourns and brings havoc to the houses of the residents. Secondly, the streets are so narrow that only one car can pass at a time. I request the government to launch another operation in such areas so that the people living there may find the areas they are in worth living. MEHWISH JABEEN Abbottabad
