Sir: The operation against the terrorists has given the people of Pakistan an opportunity to help their dislocated brethren and make them feel part of a nation. However, political confrontations, threats of long marches, dharnas (sit-ins) and revolution are enough to intimidate the already disturbed individuals. I think that instead of pulling each other’s leg in the struggle for power, we should be more concerned about the settlement and welfare of our fellow citizens who have been dislocated. Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri should reciprocate the reconciliatory gestures of the prime minister and join hands with the government to fight the numerous challenges facing the country. The opposition parties and the government should make this August 14th even more memorable by celebrating it with the internally displaced people. S H Jilani Lahore
