DELHI: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured people living near the border regions of Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan will stop firing bullets either ’tomorrow or the day after’ because India is taking steps that will force it (Pakistan) into doing so. Around 5,000 people that had been living near the Line of Control (Loc) were forced to relocate and move into Jammu and Kashmir’s Naushera sector four months back, due to shelling and firing across the border by Pakistani forces. Rajnath Singh stated that after the 2014 ceasefire violations he had instructed the Border Security Force (BSF) director general that no bullet should be fired first from the Indian side as Pakistan was a neighbouring country. “Don’t fire first because Pakistan is our neighbour,” he recalls as having said. He hoped that the situation would improve and ties between the countries be bettered. The minister said that people who dwell on both sides of the border have great respect for each other and that both sides are having problems and want a solution to them especially the people who live close to the border.
