LAHORE: A statement issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) clarified that PCB Chairman Shehryar Khan is on an official visit to England and will be attending the International Cricket Council (ICC) annual conference at Edinburgh.
He will also attend Pakistan women’s team and A-team matches and the first two test matches in the United Kingdom. He will be meeting MCC and ECB officials during his stay as well. He has already met and interviewed Jonathan Collett who had been appointed the public relations consultant for the UK tour.
Collett heads a PR consultancy company with impeccable credentials. Former PCB chairman Najam Sethi has just concluded a short visit to UAE to finalise negotiations with the three venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah with regards to both the West Indies tour in September 2016 and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in February 2017.
Reports about PCB sending a contingent of four media managers to cover the England series are misleading. The correct position is that media manager Agha Akbar will cover the first two tests of the tour and Raza Kitchlew will cover the last two tests. Media Director Amjad Bhatti will cover the one day internationals (ODIs) and T20 matches at the end of the tour.
At any given time, only one person from the media department will be present on tour. Head of the website department Aun Zaidi is the official videographer on tour to create content for branding the PCB website.
This is a cheaper and more efficient method to brand the website than subscribing to expensive content services from Google or Getty Images. The marketing department will be finding sponsors for the web content thus generated.
The PCB continues to adopt international best practices to promote the cause of cricket and both the PCB chairman and Sethi are working together harmoniously to achieve best possible results.
