DUBAI: Tweets from British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan’s social media network Twitter on Friday claim that he is parting ways with wife Faryal Makhdoom, who dismissed Khan’s allegations against her. The relationship has been subject to controversy with severe war of words between Khan and his family who were critical of the boxer’s wife, earlier this year. The former champion accused Faryal of cheating on him with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua in his tweets, adding that the couple has decided to divorce and he wishes his wife all the best. “So me and the wife Faryal have agreed to split. I’m currently in Dubai. Wish her all the best.” He tweeted. Khan further added that he left his family and friends for his wife, also tweeting a supposed screenshot that his wife sent, of her conversations with ‘other men’. “Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You getting the divorce.” Another tweet said. Taking a hit at the current heavyweight boxing champion and alleged partner of Khan’s wife, he said: “Mans like Joshua can have my left overs.” Faryal also took to twitter to denounce her husband’s allegations calling him ‘an adulterer’ and a ‘bad role model’. “Bad role model, always around women , alcohol and then he calls himself a Muslim and runs a charity.” she tweetd. She further added that Khan was ‘making stuff up’ and was levelling false accusations when instead she was the one wronged. “I’m sorry to all the fans & family hurt by this. But amir did not need to do stupid tweets accusing others when he’s in the wrong.” She further tweeted. Whether it was Khan himself, however, announcing the divorce on Twitter remains subject to confirmation.
