KARACHI: The Sindh government on Monday announced that it would reject the provisional results of the sixth population census. Terming the results a “conspiracy” against the province by the Centre, senior PPP leader Nisar Khuhro said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government would not let the province be treated in an unfair manner. “We will not let the federal government treat the province unfairly and we will take what is rightfully ours,” said Khuhro. The provincial government also alleged that Sindh’s population was shown less than its actual number in order to not increase the province’s share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award. The PPP-led government has also decided to call an all party conference to discuss the reservations. When asked if Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) would attend the conference, MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui replied in positive. Published in Daily Times, August 29th 2017.
