KARACHI: Karachi Police on Saturday detained a man suspected to be an informer in Amjad Sabri’s murder case. Police sources that Saleem Chanda has been taken into custody in connection with the slain Sufi singer and will be interrogated. The man is suspected to be an informer in this high profile case, police said. “He was sitting next to the singer in the car when he was attacked by gunmen,” police added. Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) also arrested a suspect in a pre-dawn raid, three days after the famous singer was gunned down in broad day light. The suspect was taken into custody in a raid carried out in Surjani Town area and shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. The CTD claimed the suspect is affiliated with a political party and has made ‘significant revelation’ about the murder of Amjad Sabri. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah also said on Saturday that law enforcers have uncovered important leads in the murder case. CM announced a Rs10 million grant for the late singer’s family and also offered Sabri’s widow a government job, while claiming that he was hopeful the killers will be arrested soon.
