KARACHI: A judicial magistrate has rejected the bail application of incarcerated Soldier Bazaar SHO in a heritage building demolition case. The judicial magistrate (East) dismissed the bail application filed by SHO Irshad Soomro and has sent him along with other police officials -Hakim Ali, Mukhtiar Ahmed Memon, Ghulam Fareed Chauhan – to prison on a 14-day remand. Soomro through his counsel filed a bail application requesting the court to release him on bail. The court directed the investigating officer to submit charge-sheet against the suspects withinstipulated time. SHO along with other police officials have been booked for their alleged involvement in demolition of a pre-Partition-built mansion, declared as a heritage site by the government on the night of April 8. Other suspects – Abid Qureshi and Zeeshan and Federal Investigation Agency inspector Adnan Habibani were out on interim pre-arrest bail. Soldier Bazaar polic had registered FIR 87 of 2017 under sections 447, 511, 427 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, read with Section 18 of the Sindh Culture Heritage Act, 1994.
