KARACHI: Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi Dean Academics and ORIC Director Dr Roshan Shaikh said that local industry is now interested in persons having PhD degree for key positions which is a clear indicator that realisation of importance of research work in our country is required to resolve our socio-economic problems. Similarly, our banking industry and financial institutions are also giving due importance to the candidates for employment having PhD degree which also shows that research culture is being promoted rapidly in our society. He expressed these views while delivering a lecture on “Importance of research in society” to the students of MS at university auditorium. The Finance and Economics Department Chairman Dr Shafiqur Rehman and Management Sciences Chairman Dr Shujaat Mubarak were also present on this occasion. Dr Roshan Shaikh said that a university is also like a factory, which produces useful people for the society. He told the students that it is the age of knowledge and competition, which force you to get higher education for a better future. He advised the students that lack of availability of resources should not be made an excuse; it is our responsibility to find out solution of our problems in any way by hardworking and dedication. He said that research is nothing but it is actually search for truth and is ascertained on the basis of facts and observations. He further said we should also know about truth through religion and science.
