SUKKUR: A large number of the peasants and growers of Rohri, Pano Akil and Salehpat taluka were protested against severe water shortage in the different minors of the areas by staging a sit-in in front of Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah’s House on Saturday. The protesting growers were chanted huge slogans against artificial water shortage in the different outlets of various taluka like Babli minor for the past many months. Talking with Daily Times, representatives of growers including Imtiaz, Abdullah, Kakar mahar and others who led the protest of the growers deplored that irrigation officials were creating an artificial shortage of the water in the different minors. The protesters demanded for the immediate removal of the Engineer of Bibly minor, ensure the water reach at tail end and end the water-rotation at Bibly minor. They also maintained that artificial water shortage had adversely affected timely cultivation of the crops in their area and demanded opposition leader Syed Khusheed Shah and other high-ups to take notice of their protest, else they would expand it.
