KARACHI: Poor Hindu families living in the Manzoor Colony Junejo Town, in the northwestern part of Karachi, have staged-protest sit-in front of the Karachi Press Club as the land mafia is making their lives hell. They claimed that the mafia want to occupy our land in the name of making mosques and madarassahs . A 30-year old Parwati Bhil said that government must listen to them as soon as possible and help them, as the local police are unwilling to act to protect their rights. They have been living at the piece of land for the past 40 years but now the land mafia wants to throw them out and is threatening them with dire consequences if they failed to follow their dictation. Why is this huge discrimination with us poor people? Asked Parvati. “Are we are not the citizens of this country? They must be heard soon. She also added that they were poor labourers and where will they go if they agree to the demands of the land mafia? When contacted Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Minorities Affairs Dr. Khatu Mal Jeewan he said that the affected people had reached him a month ago for that he had written a letter to Inspector General of police Mr. A.D Khawaja to take action against the mafia .
