SHIKARPUR: Shikarpur police has claimed to have killed a bandit in an alleged encounter and said that other three accomplices managed to escape, which took place at Mirza police picket, in the limits of Khanpur Police Station on wee hours of Sunday. According to PSO SSP Shikarpur, Pervaiz Mithani that a few unidentified armed dacoits were standing near Mirza Police picket to commit a serious crime, when the patrolling police unit saw them, the armed dacoits opened fire on the police, upon retaliation, one of the dacoits was killed on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness, later, the killed dacoit was identified as Israr Ahmed son of Ahmed Ali Soomro, resident of Khairpur Mirs, while police recovered one Kalashnikov, one motorcycle and good number of bullets from the possession of killed dacoit, Pervaiz added. According to police, he has been wanted by police in several heinous cases, which are registered against him at Karachi, Khairpur and other districts and further investigation is underway. The area police shifted the body of the deceased dacoit to Taluka Hospital Hospital Khanpur for post-mortem examination and body of the deceased was then handed over to his relatives after conducting the post-mortem examination. A case [44/2017] has been registered at Khanpur Police Station on the complaint of SHO Khanpur, Muhammad Ayub Dogar, on the behalf of the state, accordingly. Further police investigation is underway till this story was filed.
