LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Wednesday said they would join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lockdown if they get invitation from Kaptaan. The JI supremo said the people were waiting for an independent and impartial judicial commission to bring all the plunderers to accountability, duly punish them and recover all the looted money from them. He appealed to the court to hold hear the case on a daily basis. Talking to reporters after inspecting the arrangements for the party’s provincial gathering on Wahdat Road ground, he said that the rulers belonged to the families who had been granted land by the British rulers for their loyalty. These people had only been plundering public money and building their bank accounts. He demanded cutting down the assemblies term to four years as in the US, Britain and France, so that a government which failed to deliver could be sent home earlier. The cleric pressed the government to explain to the people how much loan it had obtained so far and where had the amount been spent. He said that drug and sugar mafias and smugglers had taken refuge in political parties and the parties were playing in the hands of these criminals simply to remain in power. Declaring the JI a truly democratic and progressive party, Siraj said the party would go to great lengths to free the people from the clutches of the plunderers. He also appealed to the people to free themselves from the hold of the serpents who had wasted 70 years and were pushing the country backward. Deploring the Quetta tragedy, the JI chief said that the whole nation was grieved over the recurring tragedies which proved that the rulers could not protect the life and property of the people. He said the people were having sleepless nights whereas billions were being spent on the security of the rulers and their kith and kin. Punjab JI chief Maqsood Ahmed told reporters that the party gathering would not only defend the ideological borders of the country, but also give a future line of action.
