LAHORE: President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday visited the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) and chaired the 6th meeting of the PIFD Senate. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, PIFD Vice Chancellor Prof Hina Tayyaba Khalil, Commerce Secretary Azmat Ali Ranjha, renowned artists and architecture Nayyar Ali Dada and other members of the Senate of PIFD were also present. Academic, financial and administrative matters related to the PIFD were discussed at the meeting. Addressing the participants, President Mamnoon said the PIFD has had the potential to increase the country’s prestige and enhance exports through value addition in products. He stressed the need to adopt creative mindset in order to bring Pakistani products at international level. He expressed the hoped that the PIFD would become a source of progress for industrial sector through innovative approach. He continued: “The country’s exports can be increased through value addition in products and there is a need to focus on research to learn about modern international trends.” The president called for establishing linkages with international renowned institutions in this respect. He also congratulated two students of the PIFD on being awarded Style Award and hoped that they would continue to work with same commitment to improve standard of the national products.
