PESHAWAR: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa said on Tuesday that Pakistan’s armed forces were carefully and closely monitoring the developing situation on its eastern border with India. “We are ready to respond to any situation,” Bajwa said. He said that the major assaults of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb have been completed successfully and hinted that the operation was close to a victorious end in the country. Bajwa – while briefing the media on crucial steps taken for border management – said that the military was doing everything to secure Pakistan’s borders. “Work has been completed with posts set up for border management,” the DG ISPR said. He said that unchecked cross-border movements between Pakistan and Afghanistan would be halted with the new posts and added confidently that there were no more entry points from the war-hit region into Pakistan. However, he insisted that border management would be most effective when Pakistani efforts were also matched by the Afghan forces. “Combing operations and intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the country – particularly near the bordering areas – greatly helped the army while it implemented the border management strategy,” he said. A total of 1,470 combing operations and IBOs were conducted from July 1st near Pakistani borders, revealed the DG ISPR. “Army has cleared the mountainous regions of Rajgal and we have also deployed our troops in the once troubled peaks,” said Bajwa. He said that deliberations were being made at the decision-making level to ensure the National Action Plan’s (NAP) implementation.
