KARACHI: The All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) urged the United Nations (UN) on Monday to pay more attention towards the plight of women and children – who were victims of conflicts or disasters. APWA Acting President Yasmin Dastur said this on the United Nations’ Day. The APWA has Consultant’s Status with the UN Category-II. APWA stressed the need of the UN to emphasise more visibly towards the plight of people – especially women and children – who are victims in conflicts and disasters, causing untold suffering to all. Yasmin further stated that ‘we salute the UN missions and peace force and its members who continue to help everyone in the troubled areas’. She also said that APWA urged for more support and assistance to the plight of the Kashmiris. “We sincerely hope that the UN’s commitment to fulfil its promises will bring in an era of development and peace for a better and healthier world,” the statement concluded.
