ISLAMABAD: The Senate’s Standing Committees on Defence and Foreign Affairs in the third sitting passed a unanimous resolution to condemn the Indian prime minister for attributing terrorism to Pakistan. According to a press release, a meeting was held under the joint chairmanship of Senators Mushahid Hussain Syed and Nuzhat Sadiq at the Parliament House on Thursday. The resolution also rejected Indian propaganda of surgical strike and asserted that these tactics could not deviate attention from the atrocities being committed in Indian-held Kashmir. The committees also commended the world leaders on not supporting India’s propaganda during the BRICS summit held in Goa last week. The committee also took notice of Modi’s statement about the Israeli oppression in Palestine and hinting at a similar attitude towards Kashmir. The joint committee was given a detailed briefing by the foreign affairs and defence secretaries on border situation with India and Afghanistan and Pakistan’s defense preparedness. India has deployed additional troops along the Line of Control (LoC) and aircraft squadrons on forward bases, Senator Mushahid Hussain told the media soon after the meeting. After a rise in Pakistan-India tensions, India has deployed additional contingents of troops along the LoC, he said. Additionally, India has brought Su-35 aircraft squadrons to forward bases, the senator added. Pakistan’s armed forces are on high alert and ready to respond to any Indian misadventures in a befitting manner, he added. The Pakistan Muslim League lawmaker added that India has violated the ceasefire agreement 58 times over the past month after the Uri attack and 103 times during the past year and that there have been 213 border violations by Afghanistan. Indian forces violated the ceasefire along LoC in Kashmir twice on Wednesday, killing a man and injuring three others.
