KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the PPP always offered tremendous sacrifices for the democracy and remained at the forefront of defence for the democratic system in Pakistan. However, the extremist gangs while taking the PPP as the biggest hurdle ahead to implementation of their vested designs on the people of the country, targeted it and hence the party could not run the campaign for the general elations in 2013. Nonetheless, people continued to standing with the PPP. He said that people gave a historical warm welcome to slain the PPP chairperson Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed on her return to Pakistan on October 18, 2007 but the terrorist gangs had attacked her convoy and more than 175 PPP workers were bathed in blood while more than 600 were left as injured. The grand Salam Shuhda rally would be produced from Bilawal House to Karsaz to pay homage to the martyrs of October18, on October 16. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would lead the Salam Shuhda rally and would give a historical address to the people of Pakistan. Later, PPP Women Wing President and MNA Faryal Talpur also visited the main reception camp and enquired about the progress and preparations for the Salam Shuhda rally. She also gave necessary instructions to the party officers and Salam Shuhda rally managers and a large number of PPP workers were present.
