KARACHI – Chinese Companies have shown a keen interest in setting up research centres and nurseries to conduct research on drip irrigation system as well as crops in accordance with weather and land in desert areas. The Chinese in this regard were keen to have nurseries and research centres in districts Tharparkar, Nawabshah and Khairpur. This came to fore during a meeting when Chinese delegation called on Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) Chairperson Naheed Memon, said a statement here on Tuesday. The delegation comprised Secretary Communist Party of Chinese province, Shihezi, Deputy Mayor Xu Zhi Xin and Xinjiang Tianye group of companies Chairman Wu Bin. Sindh Enterprises Development Fund Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mehboobul haq, Director SBI Special Projects, Abdul Azeem Uqili and other notables were also present. The members of the delegation told the SBI chairperson that the Chinese firms were interested in investing in number of projects in various areas or ready for joint execution in value addition sector for agricultural development, use of technology for preservation of water, investment in power generation and the introduction of modern methods in the livestock sector. Naheed appreciated the delegation for taking an interest in various programmes and projects and assured all possible cooperation on behalf of the Sindh government. It was also told that the delegation will visit Tharparkar, Nawabshah and Khairpur and will hold negotiations with local administrations regarding investment opportunities.
