The young and beautiful model-turned-actress Uzma Khan is all set to entertain her fans with her third film, as she will be seen rubbing shoulders with a stellar cast in the upcoming rom-com ‘Teri Meri Love Story’. Her role, according to her, in this film is entirely different from any which she has done earlier. Her roles in her previous films have been quite similar, but the one in ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ will see her in a totally different avatar. The actress started her acting career in 2013 with the film ‘Waar’, which was directed by Bilal Lashari. She played the role of a retired Pakistan Army official’s wife in the film. She also played a small role in 2015 box office hit ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’. While talking exclusively with Daily Times about her role in the film, she said, “I am playing the character Mona, a modern girl who wants to enjoy life to its fullest. She has especially come from abroad to attend the wedding ceremony of her cousin Esha. She just wants to attend the wedding and cherish every moment of it.” Talking about her decision to take up the role in ‘Teri Meri Love Story’, Khan said she took a risk with her acting/performing abilities this time around. “No matter what project we sign up to as actors, it always involves a degree of risk as to whether the audience will appreciate our work or not,” she said, adding that her goal is to make the viewers happy with her performance and hard work and is excited to see her work being appreciated. Starting her career from modelling, Khan has previously worked with renowned designers like HSY, Maria B, Umar Sayeed and Sana Safinaz. She has marked her appearance on many magazine covers as well as in fashion shows. When asked if she had any hidden talent that she has never made public before, she replied, “There is a lot of dancing in the film and I had to get out of my comfort zone for all the dance numbers.” Khan said the cast and crew of ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ were very supportive of her, especially Negha. “He was a great mentor and gave me good dancing tips that I needed for my performances.” Khan has also worked in TVCs for Mobilink and many other similar advertisements. Her upcoming projects include the sequel of ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani’ and also ‘Yalghaar’, a project of Inter-Services Public Relations. The actress wishes to stay in Pakistan for good as she wants to work for her own country, but says if given a chance she would like to try her luck outside of the Pakistani film industry as well. Wrapping up the conversation, she said, “The message I want to give to my fans is that our film industry is not very big, but still it is producing amazing films. Try to appreciate our efforts instead of criticising them.” She also said that Lollywood picked up inspirations from the Indian film industry but never copied India. We wish Uzma Khan all the very best for her future projects.
