KARACHI: The third and the final day of the Fashion Pakistan Week Spring/Summer 2016 was held on Saturday night at a local hotel, where some of the biggest names of the fashion industry showcased their latest collections. Former supermodels Attiya Khan and Iman, filmmaker Asadul Haq, fitness trainer Mantaha Tareen Maqsood and actresses Syra Shahroze and Zhalay Sarhadi showstopped for the designers. Urdu 1 was the event and media partner for FPW S/S. Take II handled the PR for the event and the show was conducted in collaboration with the Trade & Development Authority of Pakistan. Sonya Battla Sonya Battla opened Day 1 with her collection, which was a breath of fresh air. The designer showcased a white colour palette featuring short dresses in a very dramatic and an edgy look. Cutout ponchos, straight pants, ruffled dresses capes, jackets and tissue dresses were the highlight of Battla’s collection. Filmmaker Asadul Haq showstopped for the designer. Floral tops and aesthetically crafted statement headgears looked very creative and distinct. Generation Generation’s collection designed by Khadija Rahman was up next featuring metallic tissues and velvets. The collection was titled A Dot That Went For A Walk. The collection comprised of women’s wear exclusively, based primarily in cottons namely voiles, nets, dobbies, jacquards with a bit of tencel linen accented with gold tissue and velvet. The models exhibited cuts that deconstruct mainstream and traditional silhouettes, where everything from the kurta, kaftan, jama, shalwar and even the dupatta found new forms. The collections’ embellishments engaged appliqués, gota work and a reinterpretation of fringing. Al Karam Al Karam showcased short satin shirts with digital printing, fitted trousers, satin overcoats, set in a colour palette of blue and white mainly. Floral digital printed skirts paired with full-sleeved midriff tops stood out. Actress Syra Shahroze showstopped for the brand wearing a blue and gold outfit. The outfits were paired with elegant beige and nude clutches. Natasha Kamal Natasha Kamal was next up with a very modern collection that featured sequined jackets, trouser pants and maxis paired with mirrored shades and bandannas to complete the look. The colour palette was mainly yellow with a monochrome look. Shamaeel Ansari Shamaeel Ansari closed Day 3 with her collection Yugure. Exciting silhouettes with a hint of structure were complimented by loose organic forms. Ansari’s signature use of dull and rich colours dominated her collection. Former model Attiya Khan showstopped for Ansari. Regal and elegant motifs to go with gowns, embellished midriff tops and jackets were some of the highlights of her collection. Nida Azwer Nida Azwer showcased next featuring her Kirgami collection. Fabrics used in this collection include luxe sheer fabrics such as organza mixed with contrasting opaque fabrics such as silks and tissue, materialising the concept of layering using different techniques like leather cutwork, digital embroidery and experimental hand work using organza, ribbons, pearls, beads and crystals. With a diverse colour palette ranging from hues of teal, mauve, greys and white, the collection featured structured and flowy silhouettes featuring wrap and jogger pants Aamna Aqeel Aamna Aqeel was next with her collection that showed beautiful jackets, with heavy embellishments. Bright yellow skirts with monochrome tops looked stunning in her collection. Fitness trainer Mantaha Maqsood showstopped for the designer. Zainab Chottani Zainab Chottani showed a denim collection, which was modern and edgy with belted tops paired with pants. Metallic sneakers and bandannas completed the look, with a blue colour palette used. Supermodel-turned actress Iman Ali showstopped for Chottani.
