Sir: Asia is a largest continent in the world and is in a dire need of maximum jobs and industrial activities. As the hub of most populous continent, Asia is in possession of strong workforce and skills on various fronts. In particular, serious and joint steps are required to create more jobs in the Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. To be frank, the job scene in India now is gloomy as compared to before. In this context, sincere and urgent efforts are needed to improve the sectors like agriculture, education and industry. Tamil Nadu being one of the well-educated Indian states is now crying for attention on various fronts especially because of the administrative failure and the current political crisis. The unfortunate fact is that the death of Tamil Nadu former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has caused huge damage to the state in terms of lack of growth and unresolved issues — leading to unemployment and above all agricultural crisis. Most of all, Tamil Nadu’s southern districts of Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari have long been crying for more industrial activities and jobs. A native of these areas, I have so far visited many areas in Tamil Nadu’s southern districts. First of all, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari are the hubs of elite educational institutes. There are numerous elite schools and colleges located in the areas like Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Palayamkottai, Nagercoil, Marthandam, Tirunelveli, Thuckalay, Kuzhithurai, Kaliyakkavilai and Kanyakumari, all located in Tamil Nadu’s southern part. As an English and soft skill trainer, I have visited almost all the areas such as Tirunelveli and Marthandam [to mention a few]. Every year these schools and colleges are churning out talented students in large numbers. Unfortunately, these young students have to leave their native places for the distant cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai [all are major Indian cities] when it comes to employment. Enriched by the Tamiraparani (the river), Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari are home to vigorous agricultural activities which, if supported and encouraged properly, will bring in mammoth results on agricultural front. Though there have long been industrial activities in the areas like Tuticorin and Tirunelveli, the many projects in these areas like the Nanguneri Special Economic Zone have been left in the lurch. In the backdrop of all these happenings and revelations, the Indian government and the current regime in Tamil Nadu should make out the blueprints with thought to future growth and take urgent steps to develop industrial/agricultural activities in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari apart from creating more jobs for the educated.
