Sir: Myiasis is a very dangerous disease, which is very common in Balochistan, especially in district Kech. Myiasis is caused by an insect namely Botfly, which belongs to the family of Oestridae. According to doctors, it is an animal infestation disease caused by parasitic fly larvae, which capture the food from the host tissue. It is medically proved that it attacks the necrotic tissues. Actually, these flies are locally known as warble flies, heel flies and gad flies. They lay eggs on open wounds and other larvae enter the skin directly from the ears or nose to the elementary tracts of the hosts. Its symptoms can be observed when the affected person feels pain and feeling larvae moving around in the tissues. According to specialists, it can be controlled by spraying the insecticides on the surfaces of the home and can be eradicated by killing reservoir species, which live near human habitation.
